After eating your way through Thanksgiving and maybe caving in to some Halloween sweets, it will soon be time to hop onto the hectic holiday party circuit. While free time might be getting tight, you don’t want your cocktail dress to be too.
Getting in some at-home workouts is the perfect ‘do-anywhere, anytime’ solution. My favourite is the booty-shaping Bulgarian Split Squat. It works your derriere, abs and gets your heart rate up!
So, let’s get started. It’s easy. Just pull up a chair.
- The only piece of equipment you’ll need is a step or chair. Whether away from the gym at your hotel room or the ‘rents, there’s no excuses!
- Start with one leg behind (on toe or foot pointed), rested on the stair step or chair/bench, and the other far enough forward so when you finish the squat your leg is at a 90 degree bend.
- As you lower yourself into the squat, think of your back sliding down a wall. Keep your chest tall and proud. When your leg is at a 90-degree bend, connect mentally with your glute and push from there. Lower yourself slowly and push up with power like you mean it — with explosion!
This exercise is also great at the gym. Incorporate it into your full leg workout regime. It packs a lot of punch and is a super-efficient butt sculptor, calorie burner and core strengthener.
